The city of San Ramon was incorporated in 1983. The new San Ramon City Center will be located at the intersection of Bollinger Canyon and Camino Ramon in Bishop Ranch. Encompassing more than 40 acres, this project will include a new City Hall and Library. 

Annual events include the Art and Wind Festival, which blows into San Ramon Central Park on Memorial Weekend.

Major San Ramon employers include: Chevron, Pacific Bell/SBC, San Ramon Regional Medical Center, IBM, IDP Automotive Claims and Target.
